Our mission is to develop and deliver solutions to enhance the quality of life for residents living in colonias and economically distressed areas in Texas. These are residents living without one or more of the major infrastructure such as potable water, paved roads, sewage system, storm drainage, and/or electricity.The TAMU Colonias Program, through an asset-based participatory community development approach, builds the capacity of local residents to actively participate in creating sustainable solutions to local challenges.What we wantWe are in need of a Business Coordinator I to provide staff support and coordination of a variety of business activities. COVID-19 website.Required Education and Experience:Bachelor?s degree or equivalent combination of education and experienceTwo years of related experience in general office, accounting, or personnel operations.Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:Working knowledge of accounting spreadsheets, word processing, use of social media.Ability to multi-task and work cooperatively with others.Ability to work remotely with state wide team.Preferred Education and Experience:Bachelor?s degree in Business Administration or closelyrelated field.Two or more years? experience in task management and supervisory.Previous TAMU administrative experience.Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:Bilingual, fluent in English and Spanish (spoken and written).Responsibilities:Administrative - Responsible for providing staff support and coordination of business activities requiring independent judgement, including reviewing business documents for the unit head and assisting in developing, monitoring and reporting accounts and unit budget data as directed by supervisor. Will collate, coordinate data collection, maintain budgets for grants and insure that all accounts are current and in compliance with all university protocols. Communicate effectively with university staff, regional staff and stakeholders on a variety of project goals and expectations. Maintain a variety of project documentation, maintain data entry of projects, analytical and problem-solving abilities, excellent interpersonal and communication skills.Liaison - Serve as liaison with the university Financial Management Operations department and Human Resource department. Coordinate routine personnel activities of the unit. Coordinate the maintenance of personnel files and approve annual leave/sick leave records; assist with unit or division level administration as needed. Maintain inventory.Training - Train staff on new and existing business procedures. Ensure that unit and regional offices are current with System policies and regulations, and University rules and protocols for business staff. Review staff workloads, monitor budget accounts; monitor progress; participate in the hiring and training of incoming coworkers.Financial - Coordinate annual fiscal year closing activities and drafts new fiscal year plans; coordinates routine fiscal activities of the unit. Communicate and maintain cash handling procedures; coordinate unit purchasing activities; propose solutions to routine financial problems for the unit. Participate at various levels on regional activities to assist in the execution of such activities.Perform other duties as assigned.Instructions to Applicants:
