In this role, you will be challenged, and you will be encouraged to grow and learn.The Production Engineer utilizes a broad understanding of the unit operations processes and procedures to provide analysis, give instruction, plan, compile information, and work collaboratively with others to meet daily production plans. The role has responsibility for assessing the quality, robustness, and capability of the process and making decisions, with others, to halt or modify production as needed if the process does not meet quality and/or safety standards.The incumbent must be able to interact effectively with plant personnel at all levels to influence desired outcomes and foster an environment of Collaboration, Camaraderie, and Commitment.**Responsibilities**:Typical duties of the job include:- Support production unit activities to meet Safety, Health and Environmental Goals.- Drive Quality / Food Safety, Production, and Cost Improvement activities- Provide technical support for specific manufacturing unit(s) including monitoring performance metrics, monitoring OEE data, troubleshooting, and investigating product quality issues.- Investigate and resolve production issues such as schedule delays, process disruptions, equipment failures, and other production-related concerns with a cross-functional team (Operations, Engineering, Maintenance, and Quality Control)- Manage unit Process Safety Management (PSM) aspects including Management of Change (MOC) and Pre-startup Safety Reviews (PSSR)- Lead the safety effort and continuously maintain/build safety culture- Uses scientific and engineering methodologies to design and plan experiments to support the development of production improvements.- Coordinate Unit maintenance activities utilizing the Work Management Process (WMP) and in collaboration with the Maintenance Coordinator and Maintenance staff.- Provide expertise during plant start-ups and shut downs.- Establish effective communications systems throughout the unit focused on sharing information and engaging employees in the success of the facility.- Perform job duties in a manner that follows food safety and quality guidelines including HACCP, GMPs, QA Policies, Sanitation, and Pest Control.**Job Requirements**:- Industrial engineering degree with greater than 2 years' experience in an industrial environment or process engineering role.- Demonstrated ability to collect and analyze data, identify solutions, assess risk factors, and make sound production decisions.- Familiar with Process Safety Management practices including MOC and PSSR and role model strong safety standards.- Demonstrated effective oral and written communication skills.Preferred skills and experience include:- Demonstrated knowledge of solids drying y milling technologies, distillation process, wastewater solids processing- Experience with capital project management- Familiar with environmental regulatory reporting.- Familiar with Work Management Process and maintenance best practices.- Familiar with Root Cause Failure Analysis (RCFA)- Demonstrated ability to use key computer-based tools including SAP, SharePoint, ETQ Reliance- Six Sigma CertificationPreferred:5 plus years' experience in a food manufacturing or chemical environment.Desire to grow and lead in a plant environment.
