The mining area is located 185 km southeast of Iquique, at 4,400 meters above sea level, in Tarapacá Region.
The main objective of Doña Inés de Collahuasi's project is to increase the concentrator's throughput capacity from an average of 170 ktpd to 210 ktpd.
Currently, the awarded service corresponds to the execution of Package PG1 - the first of three packages contemplated for this project - which involves the detailed engineering and procurement (EP) of six flotation cells, and on-site support during the construction phase.
Service for package PG1, which began on August 1, 2023, is a continuation of the study phase (FEL3) and is expected to be completed in February 2025.
Job Summary: In this role, you will be responsible for the mechanical equipment packages in copper concentrator plant, with the ability to lead the mechanical team, develop interviews with customers and sellers to determine the scope of work, technical and design definitions, in addition to quantity and cost estimates for the mechanical aspects of the scope of a project.
Lead the progress control of the project, its administration and management.
Must have the necessary knowledge for the design review, development, modification and/or evaluation of mechanical components and processes and interrelation with other disciplines.
Their recommendations will solve technical problems and ensure that the unique and complex requirements of the mechanical aspects of a project are met.
Major Responsibilities: Coordinating and managing mechanical packages, as a technical leader responsible for the documents and scheduled activities within the project.Developing the design engineering of equipment and mechanical systems for projects in the mining industry, including pumps (water and sludge distribution networks), grinding circuits, material handling (desirable) and other related.
Proven experience in processing equipment of a copper concentrator is an essential requirement.Reviewing and if applicable, performing calculations and analyses that lead to technical design recommendations.Being responsible for material requests, specifications, data sheets, design criteria, technical evaluations and other technical documents related to mechanical equipment procurement.Assisting and leading in the evaluation of suppliers and technical evaluations of tenders.Coordinating with mechanical designers to produce designs and drawings according to project standards and coordinating and supervising P&ID mechanical designers to produce drawings according to project standards.Coordinating the work and collaborating with other disciplines and engineering areas of the Company.
This involves unifying the efforts of mechanics with all assigned areas and specialized groups, engineering disciplines, the customer, the supplier, the contractors, construction and other functional groups.Reviewing and/or preparing conceptual studies, designs, calculation reports, reports or list of deliverable scopes and methodology in proposals.Providing technical assistance to other mechanical personnel and interacting with project and customer functions, to solve complex regulatory problems with knowledge of industry codes and standards.Aiding project and construction management to identify and comply with the mechanical requirements of the project and address problems that arise during the execution of the project.Education and Experience Requirements: Requires a degree in Mechanical Civil Engineering, and a minimum of 15 years of specific relevant work experience in mining.
Required Knowledge and Skills: Experience in leading mechanical engineering development teams of mining projects (mandatory).Experience as an engineer responsible for mechanical equipment.Experience in the development of technical tender documents for equipment and/or mechanical systems.Knowledge of dry and wet area equipment applied in projects and equipment required in mining industry processes (mandatory).Field experience in the mining industry (desirable).Knowledge of the development and analysis of calculations of water networks and pulps.Knowledge of dimensioning development or analysis of material handling equipment (desirable).Knowledge of calculation development for air networks, air conditioning, tanks and fire protection systems.Effectively apply technical knowledge and skills to solve a variety of problems, complete tasks/assignments and provide guidance and advice.Intermediate - advanced level of oral and written English (desirable).For decades, Bechtel has worked to inspire the next generation of engineers and beyond!
