At FLSmidth, safety, operational excellence, and environmental responsibility are at the core of everything we do.Role Purpose:The HSE Supervisor is responsible for implementing, monitoring, and improving Health, Safety, and Environmental systems on FLSmidths project at Minera Escondida.
The role ensures full compliance with local legislation, client (BHP) standards, and FLSmidths internal HSE policies, while promoting a strong culture of Zero Harm and operational risk management.Responsibilities:Supervise daily HSE activities on-site across all project phases and provide on-site guidance to management and staff on risk prevention to ensure safe working conditions.Ensure compliance with FLSmidth, Minera Escondida (BHP), and Chilean safety regulations (e.g., DS132) and identify on-site conditions that may affect workers' health to prevent future occupational diseases.Lead safety meetings, risk assessments and preventions guidelines through daily briefings and HSE inductions.Coordinate the use of HSE tools, methodologies, and software related to safety and reliability and monitor the safety of maintenance activities and the tools used by reviewing the Safe Work Permit (PTS).Conduct safety inspections, audits, and preventive observations.Maintain updated HSE documentation and digital records on internal, client platforms and on completed activities and findings, proposing solutions to address safety deviations.Support planning of critical tasks and ensure availability of HSE resources (PPE, permits, emergency plans).Prepare and submit HSE performance reports, tracking KPIs and identifying areas for improvement.Document incidents occurring on-site and inform all contract personnel so that corrective measures can be taken to prevent recurrence.Role Requirements:Professional degree or Higher Education in Occupational Health & Safety, Risk Prevention and or related field.Minimum of 5 years' experience as an HSE Supervisor in mining or large-scale industrial projects.Preferred: Sernageomin B or higher certification, Management Systems Auditor, Labor Legislation knowledge.Proficiency in MS Office, SAP and client safety platforms.Valid Class B Driver's License.Strong knowledge of Chilean mining and environmental regulations.Previous experience with BHP / Minera Escondida is highly valued.Basic technical English is a plus.Behavioural Traits:Strong leadership and effective communication.High commitment to safety and proactive risk management.Adaptability to fast-paced environments and high standards.Proactive, results-driven, and team-oriented.What We Offer:Be part of a world-class mining project with high safety and operational standards.Join a global company focused on professional growth and sustainability.Ongoing training and development opportunities.Competitive salary, benefits, and a supportive team culture.An equal opportunity employer committed to fostering a diverse and inclusive workplace.A global network of supportive colleagues and career growth opportunities.As an equal opportunity employer, FLSmidth embraces diversity and equality by promoting an inclusive environment.We encourage candidates from all backgrounds and perspectives to apply: the more diverse our employees, the stronger our team.In our commitment to equal opportunity and eliminating bias, we kindly ask that you exclude personal information such as age, ethnicity, number of children, and photographs from your application materials.This job offer is covered by Law No.
