The Department of Mechanical Engineering at the University of Chile, is seeking to appoint two tenure track academic positions in the following areas:
Advanced Manufacturing: numerical modeling and experimentation of manufacturing processes, design for manufacturing; relationship between design-process-performance; digital manufacturing; additive manufacturing; cyber-physical manufacturing systems, and other areas of novel manufacturing processes and systems.
Reliability and Maintenance: reliability and maintenance optimization, deep learning-based methods for diagnostics and prognostics in reliability and safety, prognostics and system health management, Bayesian reliability modeling, structural reliability.
Mechatronics and related areas such as the design and manufacture of industrial and consumer products and processes, actuators and sensors, micro fabrication, robotics, automation, embedded control, aerospace systems, etc.
Candidates should have a Doctoral degree in a relevant field for the position being applied. Candidates are expected to exhibit promise or evidence of outstanding research record and a strong commitment to excellence in teaching at all levels. A provable interest in applied research with real impact on industry is desirable.
Candidates are expected to establish a strong research agenda and to teach at the undergraduate and graduate level. Regular teaching load is 2 semester courses per year. Teaching in Spanish is desirable but not an immediate requirement.
