Will report to the Head of Technical Studies and work with the Regional Mining Team and Project Technical team including geology, metallurgy, process and financial leads; will be responsible for preparation of a block model for a strategic planning exercise, preparation of an operating cost model for a range of production rates, oversight of a strategic planning exercise and open pit mine design, benchmarking of site operating costs, supervision of contractors carrying out design of waste dumps, conveyor tunnel and tailings facility as required.
Key Duties & Responsibilities Assess the 2023 Project Scoping Study mine engineering.Work with a geotechnical consultant in an update of open pit mine design parameters to account for the ful complement of geological models, geotechnical logging and characterization (as required).Build cost model for the Project mine operating cost for three development options (nominally 22ktpd, 44ktpd and 66ktpd).Build a G&A cost model for three development options.Develop a block model to be used for strategic planning exercise including variables for geotechnical, metallurgical performance, operating cost parameters.Detailed bench marking of mine operating costs including staffing and labor cost, operator and equipment productivity, consumable rates, maintenance, for comparable Barrick operations in the region.Detailed benchmarking of G&A cost for comparable Barrick operations in the regionDesign and oversight of a strategic mine planning exercise to develop a suite of production schedules for different project scenarios.Oversight of design of mine and mine infrastructure design for a suite of project development options.Supervision of contractors carrying out waste dump, water management, TSF and conveyor and conveyor tunnel studies.Participation in development of financial models for a suite of development options for the projectPreparation of weekly advance reports, Preparation of project advance meetings with consultants carrying out technical work on the projectDevelopment of presentations for quarterly reviews. Qualifications, skills & requirements Mining Engineer. Minimum 15 years of experience in project and operations including long range planning, short range planning, project design, project management.Fluent or intermediate in English language, requiredFluent in Spanish language, requiredAvailable for traveling to the project site and other locations as required.Available for a 12 month contract.
