This is an exciting opportunity for an ambitious and motivated individual over a 30 month period in using advanced simulation tools and validation techniques to further enhance the Weir's foundational engineering capabilities.
For this post, emphasis will be given to the simulation and experimental validation of minerals processing equipment. The quality of the simulations are dependent upon pre-calibration of the models, which will require repeatable laboratory test methodology development before undertaking product specific simulations and tests. Working as part of a consortia, the R&D engineer will develop and pioneer the simulation tools to reflect Weir's needs, allowing integration into the wider business.

Key Responsibilities:
· Focus Area: Undertake advanced Discrete Element Modelling (DEM) simulations and post-processing of data rich models
· Focus Area: Develop an in-depth understanding of DEM which can be applied to simulations and experiments for mineral processing equipment to validate performance; modelling; and testing conditions.
· Focus Area: Working with a consortia, create and assess product performance through lab/site experimental analysis and testing.
· Focus Area: Reporting and archiving of project outcomes to consortia.
· Safety First: Demonstrate 100% commitment to our zero harm behaviours in support of our drive towards developing a world class safety culture.
Job Knowledge/Education and Qualifications: Experience in product development and to industrial specifications
Experience in project planning and delivery
Experience in one or more of the following equipment types: Mineral Processing Equipment such as GET and ESCO bucket.
Programming capability, python or equivalent
