Job Description (Roles and Responsibilities)Main purpose of job:The Department for International Trade (DIT) is responsible for promoting UK trade and investment with the rest of the world. Working within the British Embassy in Chile, and closely with DIT regional and UK colleagues, as well as private and public sector stakeholders, the successful applicant will contribute to UK economic growth and jobs across one or more sectors. This will be done, principally, by supporting UK exports to Chile.Roles and responsibilities / what will the jobholder be expected to achieve?:1) Leading work that supports transport and infrastructure exports from the UK to Chile, through well-planned interventions (meetings, introductions, events, market research, production of one-pagers, partnerships, government engagements, etc.), resulting in the delivery of a highly ambitious export value target across the sector(s) for which the officer is responsible;2) Developing close professional relationships with senior contacts across the Chilean government, as well as private sector, to ensure the UK offer is properly understood and that British exporters fully understand Chilean needs and opportunities.3) Project managing a diverse "pipeline" of trade-related projects, with UK and regional sector team colleagues, to support future UK exports, moving quickly from identification of major opportunities to commercial wins;5) Developing an understanding of policy issues and market access barriers affecting the sector(s), working with policy colleagues within the team to assess them and plan actions to address them via appropriate levers;6) Working closely with colleagues in other Latin American and Caribbean countries, particularly in the Andean region, to help identify opportunities for British transport exports beyond Chile.7) Supporting the wider work of the DIT Chile team and other Embassy sections (when required), including regional engagement, internal coordination and planning, events, analysis and briefing, and contribute to the corporate objectives of British Embassy Santiago.Essential qualifications, skills and experience- 3 years work experience- Business related undergraduate qualification- Experience of stakeholder engagement and relationship management to deliver resultsExperience of working in infrastructure sector, either public or privateDesirable qualifications, skills and experience- Trade and/or investment experience- Experience of commercial work and business environment/culture- Required behaviours- Seeing the Big Picture, Managing a Quality Service, Communicating and Influencing, Working Together Application deadline Application deadline - day Application deadline - month Application deadline - year- 26 February 2023Grade- Executive Officer (EO)Type of Position- Full-time, Fixed term, with possibility of renewalWorking hours per week- 36Region- Latin America and Spanish speaking CaribbeanCountry/Territory- ChileLocation (City)- SantiagoType of Post- British EmbassyNumber of vacancies- 1Salary Currency- CLPSalary- CLP 1,901,451 Salary; CLP 120,000 meal allowance; CLP 55,000 transport allowanceStart Date Start Date - day Start Date - month Start Date - year- 3 April 2023Other benefits and conditions of employmentEmployees who are not liable to pay local income tax on their Mission salary, eg some non-local national staff and some spouses or partners of UK diplomatic staff, will have their salaries abated by an equivalent amount.
